Meatpaper
Meat! No recipes, no restaurant reviews, Meatpaper is “your journal of meat culture,” and they don’t mean it ironically.
This awesome magazine hails from foodie-haven, vegetarian-friendly San Francisco, and its mission is to document the “fleischgeist.” What’s that, you may ask, with your mouth full of bacon? It’s the emerging interest in our meat’s origins, how we relate to it, and why it’s so extra tasty.
Full disclosure: Co-founder Sasha Wizansky is an acquaintance of mine, so I’m rooting for her. I’m also rooting for a scratch-and-sniff cover next issue.

Kicking and Screaming
This is Noah Baumbach’s first movie, and you will love it. It’s about a few college friends just after they’ve graduated college, and the story follows them as they stay put. They remain caught in the university tractor beam, while their girlfriends move on with their lives. The perfect cast and dialogue will make you feel smarter while you’re watching it. One of those movies that make you feel better about the general state of humanity.

JPG Magazine
We’ve posted about JPG before, but now it’s all grown up. The little, though gorgeous, chapbook of amateur photography has morphed into a full-sized, glossy magazine with a much more budget-friendly price tag. Full disclosure: JPG is the brain child of my pals Derek Powazek and Heather Champ, who are both unreasonably talented, so I’m feeling pretty excited for them. This week, Mighty Goods readers get $5 off any subscription (discount code MIGHTYG), including the extra fancy gift subscriptions that come with a useful mini-tripod.
